Fell View is a small Bed & Breakfast run by Peter & Jeanette Brierley. Who moved to Ambleside from Portsmouth in December 2005. The house is a slate built Victorian three storey house circa 1880. We use two rooms for the Bed & Breakfast and also run the small newsagents to the front of our home as well. We have lovingly restored the house to a comfortable standard with new bathroom suites, furniture and completely redecorated over the past few years. Providing a relaxing atmosphere for our guests. We decided on the Lake District in the Easter of 2005 and set about looking for somewhere to call home. Ambleside was the place that caught our eye for the traditional slate buildings and wonderful surrounding views of the Lake District National Park. Ambleside is a wonderful place to take a mini break wether it be passing through over night or for a few days escaping from the daily grind of a busy city. Ambleside will capture your heart. The film "Miss Potter" was filmed on location in the Lake District and around Loughrigg Tarn & Loughrigg Terrace which are literally a couple of minutes walk from Fell View's front door. We made the deicion to move after Peter was coming to the end of serving 22 years in the Royal Navy. So we decided it was time for a change, hopefully a more quieter, slower pace of life. So we opted for running our own Newsagents and Bed & Breakfast. Ambleside can be found 1 mile away from the most southern point of Lake Windermere nestling beautifully amoung the mountains within easy reach of us. There is a court yard with seating area to the front of the property that our guests are welcome to use which has views to White Platts recreational grounds where you can play tennis, bowls, pitch & put as well as crazy golf. Along with views of Loughrigg Fell and the beautiful St. Mary's Church. The seating area can be used by our guests for smoking should they wish to do so, or even enjoy a relaxing drink whilst watching the world go by at the end of a long days activities. Inside the house is STRICTLY NO SMOKING. We provide free flask filling service and can also provide a packed lunch(see our menu link) for your days adventures We are a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town where you will find a huge aray of resturants, pubs and cafe's. The choice of places to eat is fantastic, there is somewhere to cater for everybody's palet and budget. There is a whole array of shops in the town which will hopefully cater for your needs as well. Should you require any help in choosing somewhere to eat please donot hesitate to ask either Peter or Jeanette Peter & Jeanette look forward to welcoming you to Ambleside and into their home.
